When you live on the west coast of Scotland a good quality waterproof jacket is an essential piece of clothing. It doesn’t matter what time of year it is, the rain clouds are never far away! So when Trespass asked if I’d like to review one of their waterproof coats I jumped at the chance…
I chose the Malissa jacket* in cerise thanks to it’s technical credentials. Waterproof, windproof and breathable; it ticks all the boxes! Madeleine goes to an outdoor nursery once a week and always wears her Trespass ski jacket. It has so far survived 18 months of rigorous muddy adventures so I had high hopes for Malissa!
In true Argyll style the weather was a bit hit & miss that day so I was glad of a waterproof, breathable coat to keep me dry and cool. There’s nothing worse than feeling sticky thanks to a non-breathable jacket! The Malissa is also windproof and slightly padded so it should take me right through to winter, too. Having a high energy dog means I’m out & about in all weathers and believe me, a windproof jacket can make all the difference on blustery days!
Despite the temperamental weather we had a lovely walk with minimal moaning and lots of exploring. We found ant hills, frogs and even glimpsed a deer; Madeleine was in her element! A picnic bench next to a stream made the perfect spot for a snack so out came the toffee cake, fruit and drinks. Unfortunately I forgot to pack a knife but The Other Half improvised and we were soon tucking in! We were certainly ready for a rest by then and thankfully the rain had cleared so we could eat in relative comfort before having a quick paddle and a play.
You know I love bright colours so I couldn’t resist the cerise but this jacket is currently only available in khaki or navy. Trespass do stock a lot of their waterproof coats in this dark pink colour though so you’re sure to find the right one for you. And there’s a really handy colour search function on the website to make it easy for you. I currently have my eye on the yellow Seawater which is an absolute bargain at nearly half price!
So what’s the verdict? Comfy, cosy & practical; this jacket is definitely a winner in my book.
Whether you’re looking for good quality, affordable outerwear or tips for hiking in the rain make sure Trespass is your first port of call.
