Is there anything better than a family walk in the forest on an autumn day? We love getting the kids kitted up and heading out to explore Argyll with the dog, but comfy clothing and wet weather gear is essential in this neck of the woods! You can’t go wrong with some fun and practical kids fashion from scandi brand Me & I (Madeleine still wears her Me & I skirt all the time) and thanks to the kid’s current obsession with their cute Fulton umbrellas we’ve got the rain covered, too!

A couple of weeks ago we headed out to explore the paths of Fearnoch forest near Oban and to collect the last of the blackberries before they were left to the beasties. The kids were excited to wear their new tops from Me & I and I have to admit to being a little jealous. You know how I love bright colours and a fun print! Thomas looked particularly cute in his centipede top and Madeleine insisted they brought their Fulton umbrellas so that the cats on her top wouldn’t get wet! Got to love the logic of a four year old.

Apart from a brief shower we were fairly lucky with the weather and Madeleine managed to pick enough blackberries to bake a bramble and apple swiss roll. Thomas on the other hand was more interested in running wild and free amongst the trees! I’m not going to lie, it turned into a bit of a stressful experience thanks to his wandering ways so we didn’t stay for too long. Fearnoch itself never fails to disappoint though so I highly recommend a visit it you’re ever in the Oban area.

The umbrellas and the clothes have been on a few outings since then andI can confirm they are surviving the abuse from my two little explorers. Me & I are one of my favourite brands for kids fashion at the moment as their clothes wash so well and feel as good as new every time. Not to mention the funky prints! Fulton have also got the funky print seal of approval thanks to those adorable soldiers and pretty flowers. I’m tempted to get the adult version of the rose print brolly for myself!

What’s your favourite family activity on an autumn day? Do your kids love carrying umbrellas, too?!
