It’s taken me a long time to realise that I don’t need to have a signature style. I don’t have to commit to one fashion genre. I don’t have to be The Fifties Chick, The Boho Babe or The Sophisti-Cat. I can just be me. I can wear a fifties frock one day and a tie-dye maxi the next. Hell, I can even rock an 80’s power suit with a flower crown and Doc Marten’s if I want to! I love so many different styles of fashion and I love that it can be used as a way to express yourself. Not just who you are as a person but how you feel that day, in that moment. That is what is so awesome about fashion.
So with this in mind, I jumped at the chance of receiving an handmade faux flower crown from Kelly at Dandelion & Bloom. I’ve always admired floral crowns from afar so I figured, at the grand old age of 35, that I should darn well give one a go!
Dandelion & Bloom was born after owner and creator Kelly couldn’t find what she wanted for her wedding day so decided to make it herself. After lots of well-deserved compliments she set up the business and has been spreading the floral love ever since. Kelly sells both pre-made or bespoke crowns for all occasions but also actively encourages everyday headwear to spread the fun, floral vibe.
I love that! Why do we always wait for a special occasion to wear our most awesome things? I’m guilty of it myself. “I’m saving it for best“. What is this “best” we speak of?!
I really liked the Lavender Breeze crown so I asked Kelly to create something similar but with more of a wildflower meadow feel. She then emailed me a mood board and once I had given it the thumbs up she got to work. A few days later a lovingly packaged box arrived with this little beauty inside! It felt like such a treat as I unwrapped the tissue paper and read the note written on handmade paper. Little things like that make such a difference, don’t they?
We’ve not been too lucky with the weather up here on the West coast so other than a quick try on I’ve not yet had chance to parade my crown in all it’s glory. It is, however, definitely coming with me to FloVibe Festival in August and quite possibly to Blogtacular next month, too! That is if I can keep it safe from Madeleine. You should have seen her face when she saw it! Never has the heart eye emoji been more appropriate!
And I can’t blame her. The quality and craftmanship is excellent, as was the speedy service from Kelly. Honestly, you have got to get yourself one of these!
So it turns out after all this time, that flower crowns are my style after all! Flower crowns, fifties frocks, midi skirts, maxi dresses, tailored trousers… it’s all my style. I think the word is eclectic!
Do you have a signature style? Or do you love a bit of everything like me?
