I’ve had an on/off relationship with my glasses for years but it is currently very much on as wear them most of the time. So I decided to embrace the most essential of my accessories and choose some bolder frames. Last year I attempted to order some glasses online from a different company but it did not go well. They were based in China and communication was difficult. When the glasses did eventually arrive the lenses had an odd fish-eye effect which made them impossible to wear. It was like being drunk all the time! However, as a rural based busy mum I can’t always get to an Optician so buying my glasses online really is the ideal solution for me.
Not to be defeated, I decided to give Specspost a try. They are a UK based company that promises value for money as well as the convenience of buying glasses online. You can choose up to 4 frames to try at home before deciding on your favourite in which to have your prescription lenses fitted. There is a huge range to choose from but I narrowed it down to three options; Ruby & Rose Victory, a classic catseye; Evie Petite, black with a pop of pink; and lastly the black & white Beetlejuice.
Specspost make the process of buying glasses online really easy. First, you need to head over to www.specspost.co.uk and peruse the fabulous array of frames available. Then, choose the frames you’d like to try and click the ‘try at home’ button. You will need to pay a deposit for the frames but once you send them back to Specspost the deposit is either refunded or put towards your purchase.
When you have decided which frames you prefer you simply fill out the order form and return it with the frames to Specspost. Ten days later your snazzy new glasses will arrive in a sturdy grey case and fitted with your own prescription. Easy peasy!
I was really impressed with the variety of frames on offer at Specspost. I love that they are UK based, super friendly and the frames are good quality. Admittedly, I was a little dubious after my first failed attempt at buying glasses online (from a different company – not this one!) but my experience with Specspost has been nothing but positive. If you need a new pair of specs then I would highly recommend Specspot for convenience and value. I’ll certainly be using them again!
I really struggled to choose between my three favourite frames but when I asked on social media the catseyes were the clear favourite, And who am I to disagree? They are completely different to what I’ve had before but I love them!
What do you think of my choice? Have you ever bought glasses online?
